A 30-year-old “person of interest” was taken into custody in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains Saturday after three young children were found fatally stabbed in a Los Angeles apartment, police said.
The Los Angeles Police Department said Liliana Carrillo had been detained in Ponderosa, California, more than 200 miles from Los Angeles.
The grim discovery of three child victims was made by their grandmother around 9:30 a.m. in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Reseda, LAPD Sgt. David Bambrick told NBC Los Angeles.
All of the victims are under the age of 5, according to police, who said they wanted to question Carrillo.
Minutes after naming Carrillo as a “person of interest,” the LAPD said she had committed a carjacking near Bakersfield, California, and might be driving in a stolen Silver Toyota pickup.
